Great Shepherd Behavioral Health (GSBH) is a faith-based institution with a holistic and integrative approach to behavioral health care. Founded in 2016, GSBH envisions and strives for a more equitable, stigma-free society for individuals with mental disorders through education, consistent, and sustained support, counseling, advocacy, clinical research, and evidence-based practices.

To facilitate healthy living and stigma-free communities among individuals with psychiatric illness through sustainable social and legislative advocacy, education, support for physical exercise, and healthier dietary habits so that those with psychiatric illness will be able to flourish in their communities.
Our Founder
Dr. Jude C. Emelumba is a Board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who received his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Rutgers University School of Nursing – Newark. Dr. Emelumba has vast clinical experience that covers both inpatient and outpatient adult psychiatric care settings, addiction treatment and nursing supervision. He also possesses experience in nursing research and nursing education, having shouldered the responsibility of precepting for advanced nurse practice students from online graduate nursing programs and traditional tertiary institutions/universities.
He has received training in MAT (Medication for Addictions Treatment) and acquired experience in both the treating of substance use disorder patients in detox program settings and psychiatric patients with various comorbidities. Dr. Emelumba has worked in several psychiatric institutions and hospitals in underserved communities and populations within Mercer, Bergen, Union, and Hudson counties in New Jersey. His expertise is anchored in a treatment modality that combines both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy approaches to psychiatric care while advocating for patient wellness and health promotion.
Dr. Emelumba is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) – a subsidy of American Nurses Association (ANA). He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), and the Psychopharmacology Institute.
